I am back at the beginning.
Back where I began.
Creating art out of sticks and rocks.
Long walks through creeks, woods and back alleys.
Collecting, just as I did when I was a child.
The smell of the melting steel, reminding me of my
fathers gun smithing shop, bringing with it the sense
of security and contentment that I missed.
The tactile sensations of holding a tangible object in
your hand, feeling it’s texture and weight.
A welcome change from the 2D world of computer screens and the molded plastic of keyboard and mouse.
Back to building and creating the visions in my head,
for no other purpose than to satisfy this persistent
need within myself and the child like excitement to
share it with others who might understand.
It feels good to be back.
STATEMENT
Creating is my zen, my retreat within.
Sculptures of found objects, natural and man-made.
Objects, who's beauty is often overlooked, become the
foundation of my sculptures.
Each entity, beautiful on its own, combined with
others to create layers of overlapping tones,
textures and floating colonies.
One piece perfectly smooth, another imperfectly rusted
& abused, fused together to become ONE.
A balance of Earth and industry, past and future,
individualism and belonging.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
i rock it creations is a play on words.
It's about the materials I use to create with.
It's a tribute to my teenage years, when nothing mattered but good friends, good music and having a good time.
Say it out loud, it's an affirmation! It isn't about me rocking, it's about all of us rocking in our own way! Each of us, with our diverse backgrounds and our unique personalities.
So get out there and ROCK IT like no one but you can!
